terms of service
effective date:
1. who we are and who can use total
total is operated by Ali Mamedgasanov, an individual based in azerbaijan. “total” is the service name; “we” and “us” mean its operator. these terms cover the total app and total.wtf.
contact: support@total.wtf
by selecting an agreement or continue button that clearly links to these terms, you agree to them. if you do not agree, do not create an account or use account-based features. the privacy policy explains how we handle personal information. accepting these terms does not replace any separate permission we need from you.
you must be at least 13 and meet any higher minimum age that applies where you live. if you cannot legally agree to these terms yourself, a parent or guardian must agree for you. the privacy policy explains any additional permission needed for your information. provide accurate account information, protect your sign-in access, and do not use someone else's account without permission.
tell us promptly if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission. you are responsible for activity you authorize and for taking reasonable care of your account, not automatically for every unauthorized action. we may require reasonable checks before restoring access or acting on account requests.
2. train safely
total helps you log training, submit evidence, compare results, and share content. it is not medical advice, personal coaching, or a safety assessment. exercise involves risks, including serious injury. use suitable equipment, supervision, and spotters, and do not attempt a lift just to satisfy a ranking or recording requirement. seek qualified advice when needed.
you decide whether an exercise, weight, goal, or recording setup is safe for you. a streak, badge, score, or notification is not advice to train through pain, illness, injury, or exhaustion. stop if you feel unwell or unsafe. do not handle a phone during a lift or let recording equipment put anyone at risk.
verification means an attempt was assessed against total's rules using the evidence available. it does not certify safe technique, medical fitness, identity for unrelated purposes, or a result recognized by a sporting federation. estimates, scores, and user content can be wrong.
3. verification, rankings, and limits
follow the recording and submission rules shown in the app. do not fake evidence, manipulate equipment or bodyweight readings, impersonate another lifter, interfere with integrity checks, or manipulate votes or rankings.
we may reject submissions, request additional evidence, correct or withdraw verification, and recalculate rankings when evidence, errors, fraud, or rule changes justify it. results can expire. a subscription does not buy approval, a particular rank, or a guaranteed review time. rejection alone does not entitle you to a refund; section 9 explains refunds.
free and paid allowances, eligibility rules, and renewal dates are shown in the app. they are not unlimited unless expressly described that way. changes to future rules and allowances follow section 10 and do not cancel existing paid commitments. do not rely on a rank or username remaining unchanged.
pro submissions receive priority review under the same verification rules. queue positions can change and do not guarantee a review time or approval. review estimates are estimates unless we expressly promise a deadline. availability can depend on the evidence provided, review demand, and technical conditions. ranks and badges do not themselves create a right to money, prizes, sponsorship, or professional recognition.
4. usernames
you receive permission to use a username, not ownership of it. we may reserve, change, reclaim, or reassign usernames at our reasonable discretion, including for impersonation, infringement, misleading affiliation, inactivity, abusive names, username trading or squatting, platform operations, or another legitimate service reason. this can include assigning a public figure's, celebrity's, or brand's name to its verified representative. claiming a name first does not guarantee you can keep it.
we may ask you to choose another username. we will give notice where practical or legally required, but may act immediately to address abuse, rights complaints, or security issues. do not sell or transfer usernames without our permission.
buying pro does not purchase a username or exempt it from these rules. a username change may change your profile link, so links you shared previously may stop working. we will not reclaim a username simply to mislead users about who runs an account.
5. your content and public information
you keep ownership of what you upload. you give us permission, worldwide and without paying a license fee, to store, copy, resize, convert file formats, transmit, and display it as needed to run total, provide the sharing you request, and carry out verification and moderation. you can still use or license your content elsewhere. service providers may exercise these rights on our behalf only for those purposes.
for content you deliberately make public, you also give us permission to feature that content, together with the public name, username, avatar, image, or voice appearing with it, on total's website, official social accounts, and in advertising for total, without additional payment. we may crop, resize, caption, or shorten it, but not change its meaning or invent an endorsement. this is limited to promoting total, not licensing your identity to unrelated brands.
this promotional permission excludes private verification recordings, private workout records, support messages, and health or fitness data whose advertising use is restricted by law or platform rules, including apple health data. we will not rely on this paragraph alone to feature anyone under 18 in promotion. we obtain separate permissions, including from a parent or guardian when required, and any additional image, music, privacy, or other rights required for the proposed use.
you may withdraw promotional permission for your content by emailing support@total.wtf with the relevant account or content. we will stop new promotional use and remove it from ongoing promotions we control within a reasonable time. this does not undo completed distribution or require us to retrieve independent copies held by others.
the service permission ends when the content is deleted, except for retention and backup removal described in the privacy policy, or copies already shared with others. deletion also ends permission for new promotional use, with existing promotions handled as described above. retention follows the privacy policy.
only upload content you have the rights and necessary permission to share, including any legally required permission from people you record and rights to music, images, and other material included in your uploads. having a song available in another app does not automatically license it for total. do not record where it is prohibited or invade other people's privacy. private verification recordings are used for verification, integrity, and safety purposes; they are not public feed posts merely because you submit them for verification.
public posts, profiles, rankings, and enabled web-profile widgets may be viewed, copied, or indexed outside total. deleting something from total cannot guarantee deletion of someone else's screenshot or independent copy. public visibility does not give other users ownership of your content or unrestricted permission to reuse it.
6. using total's software and services
we and our licensors own total's software, design, logos, and other service materials, except for user content and other third-party material. you may use the features and sharing tools we make available for their intended purposes. no other ownership or license is transferred to you. do not imply that total endorses you or your product without our permission.
do not bypass payment, access controls, submission limits, or security checks; use bots or extra accounts to manipulate allowances or rankings; scrape personal information or bulk-copy the service without permission; upload malicious code; overload or disrupt the service; access private data without permission; or resell access to total. these restrictions do not prevent actions the law expressly allows. report security problems privately to support@total.wtf and avoid accessing or exposing other users' information.
7. community rules, reports, and enforcement
we have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. we remove it and may ban the accounts behind it. competitive banter and ordinary swearing are not automatically violations. context matters. do not post illegal material, sexual exploitation, pornography, credible threats, targeted abuse, hateful attacks, graphic violence, instructions encouraging self-harm, private information without permission, scams, spam, or content that infringes others' rights. do not evade blocks, moderation, or account restrictions.
use in-app reporting and blocking, or contact support@total.wtf with the relevant username or content link and a short explanation. for an illegal-content report, explain what is unlawful and where the material appears, and provide a way to contact you unless the law permits an anonymous report. do not knowingly submit false reports. for immediate danger, contact local emergency services; total is not an emergency service.
we use automated safety checks, including openai's moderation service, for uploaded avatars and submitted community text, poll options, images, and video preview images. the material checked may include faces or other personal information you include in it. these checks help detect content that may break our rules and can prevent publication. submitting an avatar or community post authorizes these safety checks as described in the privacy policy, subject to any separate permission we need from you. private lift, weigh-in, and pin verification recordings are not sent to this moderation service merely because you submit them for verification.
automated checks and human reviewers can make mistakes. human reviewers assess reported content and other suspected violations. we may remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts, or end access for violations, binding orders, or safety and security reasons. when deciding what to do, we consider the seriousness, context, repetition, and risk of harm. urgent or serious cases may require immediate action without a warning.
we provide explanations and review options where legally required, except when we are permitted to withhold information to protect safety or an investigation. if you believe a moderation or account decision is wrong, email support@total.wtf with the account, decision, and your explanation. this contact route does not promise a separate in-app lift or weigh-in appeal feature, a reversal, or a review deadline.
8. copyright and other rights complaints
if you believe material on total infringes your rights, email support@total.wtf with your name, contact details, a description of the protected work or right, the exact content link or enough information to find it, and why its use is unauthorized. tell us whether you own the right or are acting for its owner. we may request additional information required by the applicable notice process.
copyright and privacy complaints are handled through this support inbox and our moderation process. this includes complaints about private verification material; you do not need a public link if you can otherwise identify the recording. do not send unrelated private recordings or sensitive documents just to make a report. we assess complaints and may request clarification, remove or restrict material, or take account action as appropriate. we follow required deadlines and procedures for notices, responses, and restoring content. we terminate accounts of repeat copyright infringers in appropriate circumstances. removing content does not itself establish wrongdoing.
9. purchases and subscriptions
the purchase screen states the price, billing period, and included features. subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled under the app store's terms. manage or cancel apple-billed subscriptions in your apple account settings. deleting total or your account does not cancel a subscription.
if a free trial or discounted period is offered, its length, eligibility, and the price afterward will be shown before you accept it. cancel before the stated renewal deadline to avoid the next charge. canceling usually stops the next renewal rather than refunding the current period. this does not affect refunds or cancellation rights required by consumer law or the app store's rules. subscription price changes follow the app store's notice and consent rules.
apple processes apple-billed payments and refund requests. you can request an apple refund at https://reportaproblem.apple.com. contact us if a paid feature does not work. we remain responsible for required fixes or other remedies for our service, even when apple handles billing. a ban does not automatically cancel your subscription or remove refund rights.
apple's standard licensed application agreement, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/, governs the app license. these service terms supplement it and do not override any rights it gives you. apple does not run total's verification or community services. open-source components, where used, remain subject to their own licenses.
10. changes, suspension, and leaving total
you may stop using total at any time and request account deletion in settings or through support. the privacy policy explains deletion and any justified retention. cancel any subscription separately. after account deletion or termination, you lose access to the account and its features, and public profile links may stop working.
we may update features and these terms for genuine reasons, including security, legal requirements, preventing abuse, technical changes, or improving the service. existing paid commitments remain protected. if a change materially reduces paid functionality, we provide the advance notice, cancellation options, and refunds required by consumer law. urgent legal or security changes may take effect sooner when permitted.
if we close total or a major paid service, we will give reasonable advance notice where possible and provide a reasonable opportunity to request a copy of your own data, subject to security and legal limits. we will honor any refunds or other remedies required for undelivered paid services. we cannot promise to keep operating indefinitely.
updated terms will show their effective date. we provide required advance notice of material changes through the app or your account contact details and ask for fresh agreement when needed. changes do not rewrite existing disputes. if you do not agree, you may stop using total.
11. responsibility and limits on claims
we take reasonable care in providing total, but cannot promise uninterrupted access, error-free data, particular training results, or the conduct of other users. outages, device failures, and connectivity problems can affect recording or syncing. keep your own copies of important training records and recordings.
user advice and links are not our endorsement. third-party sites and services have their own terms, and we do not control them. total is not responsible for independent conduct of other users or providers except where our own acts, omissions, or the law make us responsible.
the following limits apply only where enforceable and fair. we provide the service without additional implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost business opportunities. our total liability to you for claims arising from the same event or related events is limited to the greater of us$100 and the amount you paid for total in the 12 months before the event that caused the claim, or the equivalent in your currency.
these exclusions and the cap do not apply to fraud, deliberate misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability or remedy that the law does not allow us to limit, including mandatory consumer and data-protection rights. if a limit is not enforceable in your circumstances, it does not apply.
12. resolving problems and other terms
nothing in these terms takes away rights the law does not let you give up.
these terms are governed by azerbaijani law, but you keep any mandatory consumer protections where you live. you can still use courts available to you under those protections. you are welcome to contact support first to resolve a problem, but you do not have to.
if a company or another operator takes over total, we may transfer this agreement and the service as part of that change, subject to your legal rights and any required notice or consent. the new operator must take on our obligations, and we will identify it in these terms and the privacy policy. this does not itself authorize new uses of personal information.
if one provision cannot be enforced, the rest of these terms continue wherever they can operate without it. not enforcing a rule immediately does not mean giving it up. provisions needed after account closure, such as outstanding payment obligations, permitted content retention, and resolving existing claims, continue to apply.
